Come my little Child

Priderock, named so after the large rock that stands tall in the center, is a large, yellow grassland. Herds of zebra and antelope graze by the watering hole, making up the main source of food for pride members. There are very few trees in the grassland, and all cats who leave here have to learn to adjust to the heat.

Down by the watering hole was the grazing herd of antelope, each with a head bent low as it sampled the dish that the grassland had to offer. A few flies buzzed around their ears and faces, but it seemed that each of the antelope was far too busy eating to bother chasing away the insect. A couple would merely flick their tail or stomp a hoof, but for the majority they did not bother.

Yet their meal was soon to be interupted. The largest of the group, a twisted horned beast who obviously ruled over the herd, suddenly lifted up his head, for it seemed something had caught his attention. Then, without warning, he turned tail and bounded away, the rest of the herd following him as he dashed away from what he deemed a danger.

Yet at this moment in time, Smokey was no danger to any of those beasts, for she had a much more important mission than hunting. The slender queen was moving quickly with long strides, the muscles beneath her fur tense and hard. The bundle of Aurora still cluched firmly within her jaw, a cub that she had taken upon her self to help. Her pale eyes were set upon the watering hole.

Smokey half slide, half scrambled down the embankment towards the watering hole. She winched slightly as she knocked her shoulder and grimanced as she scraped one paw, but despite her hurry Smokey wasable to reach the watering hole without much harm coming to herself or her smaller companion.

Smokey placed Aurora down near the edge of the watering hole, being sure to drop her where there was a rock that she was able to perch on. Here, you might want to take a drink. I doubt you've had one in a long time, Smokey grunted, turning away from Aurora as she spoke. Then, Smokey let out a loud yowl, summoning the members of Priderock to help her.

The small white tiger cub hung bundled up keeping her legs in tight as the older tiger carried her. She looked all around her surroundings as they changed from where she once was. Her crystal blue eyes scanned the area for other tigers that her and the older tigeress may encounter. She spotted nothing and didn't hear anything either. She relaxed a little but still keeping her curious eyes on their surroundings.

Suddenly off in the distance she spotted water, a watering hole actually. She roared her little cub roar seeing the water and getting excited. Once she was set down she looked up to the older tigress and nodded before walking slowly over to the water and climbed upon the rock. She looked into the water and bent over touching it with her paw slightly, looking back up to the older tigress she drank her fill and then her curious nature started to take over. Also her love to swim was getting to her as well. She walked slowly into the watering hole splashing as she walked, trying to get used to the water temperature. She eventually got used to it and soon the young cub was up to her chest in water. Aurora made sure to stay close to the older tigress though making sure not to wander too far. Plus she didn't exactly have the strength to swim out any farther too.

Paws lightly treaded the grass as they entered more unfamiliar terra. The young cheetah queen kept her skull low and her orbs fixed upon Serria who had lead her here. Tenkai’s orbs were filled with fear, though they should have been filled with pain.

Tailing behind her was a weighted chain. The tip was so infected that one look at it could cause any cat to forget about hunting anytime soon. Her white fur was matted with blood that was caked in right to the skin. Among the mess, the hint of something metallic could be seen glinting in the afternoon sun.

Tenkaichi was no ordinary cat. She had absolutely no heritage as all others did. She was not brought into the world as others were. She was the last surviving result of humans’ lab experiments. When she escaped, she was shot at and it hit her tail, but that was more then a month ago.

She paused and then took a hesitant step, then another, and continued to follow the only cat she knew. She had just scented other cats. The scent trail was fresh. It reminded her of the cub in front of her, so she figured the scent to belong to a couple of Tigers, as Serria had called her self.

She padded along slowly, and she soon smelt water. As they came across the source, she froze, not sure what to do. In front of them was a large cat and another cub.

I weaved through the tall yellow grass, my paws moving swiftly in my haste to locate another cat. My breathing was laboured and my body was aching, for I had refused my body permission to slow down in my need to help my new found friend.

My mind felt strangely numb, unable to truely understand everything that had taken place. The last time I had felt like that was... well, when Spear had died. The events that had taken place felt like they were out of someone elses memories. I had wandered off, found a friend, and now it appeared I was in danger of losing Tenny. I wasn't entirely sure whether there was anything I could do, for my small stature and fragile mind prevented me from providing any form of help, so I followed the rule that I knew best; When injuried or ill, find the healer.

I had been keeping myself alert, eager to scent another cat and request their help. It suddenly hit me now. I was able to scent two cats, one of which I knew well and trusted, which was my aunt Smokey, whilst the other was an unknown and unfamilair scent. They seemed to be coming from the same place. I wondered if it was a new pride member, and if that ment mama had finally returned.

With the prospect of finding Smokey now on my mind, I increased my pace. I felt as though my lings would explode and my paws would fall off, but I refused to be beaten. The scent was coming from the watering hole, and as I drew closer the scent grew stronger. I was determind to find help for Tenny if it killed me.

I quickly scrabbled down the embankment, my small size allowing me to move quickly. The sound of my frantic scrabling quikcly alerted Smokey. Her welcoming grin quickly faded as she realized that something was up. As I finally reached the egde of the watering hole I rushed up to her, egaer to let her know that there was a problem.

We need Skye, I blurted out. I found this cat called Tenny and she's hurt and I think it might be ser-.

Then, the words suddenly died on my tounge. I had just noticed a tiny cub, a small, skinny, pitiful thing, standing near Smokey. Its scent was the same one which I had scented before. I tilted my head to the side, my thoughts of Tenny interupted as I stared at the pitiful creature.

Smokey glanced up at the cat standing at the top of the embankment. She narrowed her eyes and let out a gentle snarl, though her gaze was fixed not upon the cheetah's face, but upon her tail, and the mattered fur crusted with blood. It was easy to see that this was what Serria had been referring to. She jerked her head, singnalling for the cheetah to join the rest of them, before once more letting out a loud yowl. This time, however, she did not just summon Skye, but Naka aswell.

She was abandoned, Smokey stated to Serria, her form of explaining why Aurora was there.

Aurora turned to see the new stranger approach her and smokey. Her head tilted to the side as she saw a Cheetah, she had seen one before but only once. The thin cat seemed to be injured on her foot. Aurora's eyes got somewhat wide as she gazed at the cheetah's injury, letting out a small cry as if saying i'm sorry to the cheetah. The white cub looked to the cheetah for a little while before turning and continuing to walk around in the cool water. She was still hungry and hoped that smokey would find her more food soon. Leaning down she drank some more water while smokey and the other cheetah stood nearby.

Her head rose once more as she heard yet a voice of another cat arrive. Her crystal blue eyes gazed at the new stranger as she began to speak then stopped. Aurora watched as the strangers eyes went right to her as the cheetah had done too. She heard Smokey yowl and copied her with a high pitched cry, just to follow the lead of the one who had taken her in. She walked around in the water some more pawing at it and looking up to the strangers every now and then before returning to what she was doing. Aurora finally made her decision that she was done and worn out from walking around in the water with the little strength she had. Walking over to smokey she layed down and yawned before looking back up at smokey.

Her snowy white pelt, interrupted by jet black stripes, glistened brilliantly in the sun as her sparkling aqua orbs soaked up the surroundings. Grass crackled under her large paws, the earth dry and dusty. A soft warm buzz hung in the air on the warm day.

Skye looked around, her mind lost in her troubles. She was indeed lost. Her mate had disappeared. She felt so... incomplete without him. To tell the truth, Skye was slightly unimpressed with Priderock's effort to go find him.

A loud roar interrupted the tigress's thoughts, her thorns prickling to the sound. With nothing better to do, Skye leapt into a steady run, heading for the source of the sound. Her pace slowed as the scents of many cats came to her. Padding for wards, Smokey and Serria came into view, along with some unfamiliar cats.

Smokey, Serria. She said, glancing at the other cats. You called?

Her voice felt strange and unusual, as she had been on her own with her thoughts for the last few days.
Antelope grazed near by. Skye licked her lips. She was desperately hungry as she had not eaten for a while.
The tigress's chain swayed side to side patiently as she waited for the queen's response.

Tenkaichi stayed on the embankment as she watched Serria run towards the adult tiger. Her auds perked and she shifted her weight uneasily as she heard Serria speak to the bigger cat. When the adult looked at her and released a snarl, she backed up a few steps, auds lowered against her skull. When she motioned for her to come, Tenkai looked to Serria and then back to the adult. She took a small step forward, then another, as she began to slowly descend the incline of the embankment.

When she was closer to the others, she skirted around to the water’s edge. She took few laps then crept closer a few steps before laying herself upon the cool earth. Her auds where still pressed weakly against her skull and she lowered her head onto her paws as she continuously glanced from the large tiger to Serria, never really paying attention to the smaller cub at the adults paws.

Suddenly another tiger appeared and approached the other adult. Tenkai wrapped her tail around her self as she curled up. She nervously watched as the strangers began to speak, deadened chain twitching wildly.

The approach of Skye drew Smokey's attention away from that of Serria, Aurora and 'Tenny', all of whom she had been eyeing with interest. As the white tigeress approached from behind Smokey turned to greet her with a courteous 'Hello' and a nod of the head, a respectful welcome to a queen of importance. Usually there would be a follow up of 'how do you do's, but today Smokey had more important things to discuss.

I called you here because of these two cats - she gestured towards Aurora and Tenny with her tail - The wretched cub has been abandoned, thats what she tells me, and she underfed and pretty weak, whilst the cheetah has a pretty serious tail wound which, from the looks of it, isn't that recent.

Smokey watched as skye flicked her tounge around the corners of her mouth. The silver tigress grinned slightly and stepped foward. Here, she laughed as she moved past Skye in the direction of the antelope herd. I'll fetch you something to eat whilst you examine these patients

---

I let out a squeal of delight as Skye arrived. I heard her question Smokey and I heard smokey reply with her answers. I waited for Smokey to finish, eager to inform Skye of just what had occured. I glanced over at the small cub, Aurora, and I suddenly felt my body move towards her, settling nearby. It was as though my subconcious had awakened that tiny cub inside of me. I beckoned Tenny to join us; after all, she was just a tiny mentally as us. I growled at my much larger friend, a small attempt at starting a game between the three cubs.

The adults where in their own world as they dicussed why the one had called the other. Tankai looked away as the one known as Skye looked her over. She inched away as the one known of smokey left and Skye stood studying her and the young cub next to Serria.

Serria had then caught her attention and she noticed her beckon to come over. She move of crawled over, not fully getting to her paws, and laid her frame near the to other cubs. She flicked her leadened tail and reached forward with a paw. She nudged Serria in the side, but being of more powerful creature then her and having size, she pushed her gently into the other cub playfully. She smiled meekly as she rolled onto her side and watched the other two cubs, completely forgetting about how intimidating Skye was to her, who stood near by. She was happy within, finally feeling like a cat.

The white cheetah’s orbs gleemed as she was surrounded by tigers. The panic over her tail was in the back of her mind, no matter how bad the wound or how life threatening it could be. She was just enjoying the moment.

I squealed in delight as I watched Tenny crawl over, my desire to play seemingly fulfilled. However, I let out another squeal, this time in surprise, as Tenny nudged me, sending me sprawling. I had underestimated her size in comparison to mine.

I scrambled to my paws, let out a playful growl as I lunged at my cheetah friend. However, once again I made an underestimation, and I merely sprang past Tenny, stumbled and fell into the watering hole.

As I felt my body break the surface of the water I suddenly began to panic. I lashed out through the water, an intense fear suddenly gripping my heart. What if I never came up?

After hours it seemed I finally managed to swim up to the surface. I gasped for air as I paddled towards the water bank. I hung on to the earth as I regained my breath, my gasps now subsiding to be replaced with deep breathing. I slowly clambered out.

However, despite my experience, I was still unable to allow such an opportunity to go amiss. I quickly shook myself, sending droplets of water all over those in the current vicinity.

Skye laughed as she watched Serria shake water all over the group of cats.
Careful there Serria, She grinned. It was good to see some familiar faces. Especially friendly young ones.

Her attention quickly turned again to the two injured cubs. Skye padded gently towards Tenkaichi. Her immense size made her tower over the cub, but Skye's sapphire orbs softened and a warm smile played on her kind face. Skye bent down a little, examining the cub.

Hi there. I'm Skye. I'm going to fix your tail here, ok? Skye spoke kindly, her lyrics soft and silky. The snowy tigress had a gift with her voice and comforting others.

She nodded to Smokey with thanks of getting her some food. She quickly bound away from the scene, in search of certain materials to help her patients. She scanned the sunny lands for somewhere shady. A cluster of trees and a fallen log lay ahead. The tigress quickly ran to wards the area, soon finding a group of odd looking little pink flowers. The taste of them were bitter and disgusting, yet the did a terrific job of fighting infection.

After a while off collecting other medicines, Skye raced back, her mouth full with them. She reached Tenkaichi and lay the things infront of her.

Ok. I need to to eat all these things here, She said, indicating to the flowers, poppy seeds and another yellow flower with a long stem. These pink ones will fight infection on your tail. The poppy seeds will help with the pain, and the yellow one tastes rather nice and will clear you head from and headaches, etc. Skye said with a smile.
Once you've done all that, make sure you give your tail a clean and a wash in some water.

Skye moved on towards Aurora.

Aurora, is it? Anything wrong with y- Skye began kindly. But whilst glancing back at Tenkaichi's tail, she saw the metallic shine.

Tenny, what is in your tail?

Aurora looked around her and watched as the other cats appeared. She had meet few and was new here so she sat beside smokey and just watched from a distance. Smokey was the only one she really knew and trusted at this point, so she stayed beside her. Her blue eyes were wide as she looked around in every direction at the different types of cats that came. Looking up to smokey she sighed and curiousity got the better of her when Sky started speaking with the cub named Tenny. When skye came over she started asking about her, she began to speak beforeskye stopped.Aurora got up and walked over to Tenny briefly before going back to Smokey.Suddenly the bigger cat had turned back to Tenny, and it caught aurora's attention as well. She looked over at Tenny and too saw the shine from something in her tail. Tilting her head to the side she watched curiously from beside smokey. Her tail twitched as she thought about what could be in the cubs tail, she had never seen anything like it so had no clue about what it could be.

It didn't take long for Smokey to fetch Skye her meal. Smokey was a hunter, and she took great pride in her skills. She was quick to locate the easiest target, a small female with a limp, and it was not long before she held the now dead creature between her teeth. She was unable to supress a smirk of satisfacttion as she made her way back to tthe group.

Bringing back her kill was always difficult. With a small animal like a rabbit or a small warthog there wasn't a problem, but when it came to creatures like the dead antelope she had now, things were much harder. Smokey had developed her own technique to deal with this, and she found that just simply dragging the carcass by the neck worked for her. When she came to the embankment that led down to the watering hole she pushed the carcass down with her muzzle before following suit. She grinned wickedly.

Here, Smokey grunted as she hauled the dead animal towards the group, setting it down near Skye. Enjoy it, she muttered before moving back next to Aurora. She stood over the cub protectively, watching as Skye tended to the new cat 'Tenny'. The strannge metallic shine in the cheetah's tail was odd, and she found her mind wandering back to something she had seen as a cub; a small object, round and silver had she had found hallf buried. The glint seemed to remind her of that.

As Serria soared over her head as she lay on her side, Tenkai couldn’t help but giggle when she landed in the water. Forgetting that she couldn’t swim, she just watched until she pulled herself onto dry land once again. When Serria shook her pelt, she showered Tenny from her shoulder to the tip of her nose. She sneezed and rolled onto her stomach, shaking her head to free her fur from the now damp dirt.

A thudding then caught her attention and she watched as the adult known as Skye trotted towards her. Her thorns flicked as she listened then prodded the plants with a paw. But after a moment, she did as she was told. The humans at the lab had given her much weird things to eat. And in her opinion, these tasted a lot better. Already the throb in her stiff tail was beginning to numb.

She turned to play with Serria more when a question caught her attention.
‘Tenny, what is in your tail?’
She tilted her head to the side and brought her tail round to examine it. She then remembered about the object in her tail. Again, the object registered to her as a bullet. The memories she had had earlier, that of her ‘brother’ and his dieing yowls and screams as he was hit by the little polished stones again and again until he became still, flooded back into her mind. Her anxiety started to slowly rise and her body shuddered. But she felt safe with these tigers and for the most part, remained calm.

“The humans called it a bullet. I have seen several friends be killed by these polished stones as they were thrown at them by a shiny stick.”

The snowy tigress cocked her head, intrigued.

Did..Did you say humans? She had not heard the word for a while now. It wasn't a very welcome topic from what she had heard.

A bullet..We'll have to remove it, whatever it is. I have no idea how though. She continued, racking her brains for answers to fix the young cat's wound. Worry lurked in the back of her mind.

How and when did this happen to Tenny? Skye could sense there was something more to the story, but held her tongue. She needn't worry anyone else just now.

Smokey, perhaps she needs to see another healer with more knowledge than myself. If this bullet, or some sort of shiny rock is left in her tail, who knows what infections will it cause. Not to mention a lot of pain for Tenny, Skye said quietly, her voice directed to Smokey.

Would Smokey let Tenny see another healer? Skye knew exactly which one could help. Snow, the best friend of Switchblade's mate Jedda. Skye turned herself, slightly ashamed. With Koji on her mind, she could not resist trying to retreive any information about him, even if it meant getting it from a rogue healer.

Tenkai’s thorns lowered a bit as she heard Skye say that she did not know how to remove the foreign object in her tail. With her long tail wrapping around her side and the tip laying on her paws, she began to groom it. But because she could feel no pain, she was doing it rather roughly compared to how any other cat would groom a sensitive injury.

She managed to clean the dirt that had collected on her tail off, though the blood caked on to her skin and fur did not come off. Do to the harsh likes, the wound itself was rubbed raw, and the clean opening in her tail began to ooze blood.

At the site and taste of her own fresh blood, she froze, her fur bristling with anxiety. When she heard the lyrics of Skye, saying that she needed another healer, sent a confusion of emotions. She wanted to be fixed, but she didn’t want to meet anymore cats, she wanted to stay here, where she was safe.

.Smokey.

Whilst Smokey was not a direct decendant of the Kelpsie, it was quite clear that she was, in one way or another, part of the blood line. She posessessed the more noticable qualities of a kelpsie, such as her silver fur and hauty personality, and some of the less noticable qualities, such as the way she spoke, thought and felt about things. Yet, just as most of the Kelpsie were, Smokey was not a fast thinker when it came to matters that did not involve violence. In the midst of battle she was quick to decide the best way to disarm her opponent, and yet outside of such a conflict her mind worked slower than most.

As was to be expected of one with such a dull mind, Smokey did not immediately understand why Skye's voice was lowered and somewhat tentative. Blind to the thoughts the healer was trying to convey, Smokey wondered why Skye was being so evasive about the obvious. If Skye were not capable of treating the feline, then perhaps they would need to seek another healer. Proud as she was, Smokey was not unfeeling, and she could see with a glance that this was a terrible wound.

Who should we take her too? Snowy? I'm sure Snowy would be able to treat her.

Smokey was speaking in a matter of fact voice, though as she eyes drifted onto Tenny she suddenly felt a stab of alarm. The large cheetah was licking her tail with an almost vicious rhyme. The tender wound had begun to ooze blood, and yet the queen did not appear to notice, nor feel the pain. The tiger queen's eyes widened in surprise at this unusual display.

After all, what would Smokey understand about the ways of humans?
